Nicole’s 2024 Capo State titles 🔥 smashing first 🥇 in her weight class 💪🏻

We asked Nicole a few questions regarding her competition, check out Nicole’s answers, we are excited to see her continue her journey

How did you place and what did you lift in each category?

I got 8/9 successful lifts
Squat
🟢 135kg
🟢 150kg
🟢 170kg
Bench
🟢 75kg
🔴 85kg - got it up but missed the cues
🟢 85kg
Deadlift
🟢 150kg
🟢 170kg
🟢 182.5kg

For a whopping total of 437.5kg! Amazing for a first comp.

What did you find the hardest prepping for the competition?
Balancing work, my son and training but also trying to stay sane with a social life.

How did you feel the day of the competition?
I felt sick, my anxiety levels were high and it took until my first lift to settle in and get in the zone.
The second they called bar is loaded and I stepped on the platform I was ready for it.

Looking back at the experience, what was the most enjoyable about the Competition?
The atmosphere and meeting some absolute weapons! Words can not describe the atmosphere of the place, the thrill and adrenalin of spectators and fellow lifters screaming at you to succeed.

If you could give yourself a piece of advice restarting your journey, what would it be?
ENJOY THE PROCESS. And TRUST IT. I went Into my lifts not knowing what my kg attempts were - I didn’t look and I didn’t listen, I just lifted what my coach told me to so I couldn’t get Into my head about it.
You’re always stronger than you think.

What is the plan from here?
Wait for the debrief with my Coach and set new targets, new goals and smash it.

🤞 I did enough for a first round Nationals invite when they get sent out in a couple months.

We want to wish Snap Whyalla member Nicole good luck in Adelaide with her first power lifting comp this weekend. 🏋️‍♀️

We ask Nicole a few questions about the comp, check out her answers 💪🏻🔥

What competition are you entering?
CAPO Power Lifting State Titles

What were the categories?
Squat, Bench, Deadlift

Is this your first comp and are you nervous?
Yep first one, slightly nervous as I have decided to skip Novice and jump straight to a Sanctioned event. Thrown myself in the deep end slightly but I’ve been working with a Coach for months and we believe we are ready! More nervous of getting the commands and timing right to get all 3 white lights from the Refs!

There would have been up and down days for training and motivation, what helped you get through?
Spite. 🤣 Being doubted and talked down on by others fueled me to get a coach and prove people wrong.
Oh and Caffiene and a coach who pulls me inline.

We have massive plans in the future, we just need to get the first comp nerves over and done with, then the real work starts.

Bringing back Member of the Month for 2024

We want to acknowledge all of our members for their hard work and effort, the consistency, community and support is what drives our results 💪🏻

A special mention to Lucy for her commitment to herself and goals. We asked Lucy about her experience, checkout what she has to say 🔥

What has changed in your life during that time due to your experience with Snap Fitness Whyalla?
the level of consistency and confidence i have built through my time at snap fitness has helped me in and outside of the gym. i have built commitment to a passion and always feel i have a place to go whether i’m happy, sad, bored, or excited. i have learnt from people in the gym and has positively broadened my thinking in terms of socialising with people i don’t know. as-well becoming stronger and healthier than ever.

What do you like about Snap Fitness Whyalla that keeps you coming back?
I love the people and the community snap fitness has, seeing familiar faces everyday has led to building friendships that have extended outside lifting weights. The effort from the staff has always been high on my lists of reasons why i love the gym. i always know i have someone to go to or ask if i need anything, which is extremely important in this environment. i love that there’s always an effort to make the members happy through small changes to major renovations.

What are your short term and long-term goals?
my short term goals are to to fuel my body better, finish my degree, build healthier habits, and getting my license long term goals would to be able to start or be apart of a business or organisation that i love and am passionate about. On a personal level a long term goal would also to love my brain, and body fully.

What advice do you have for our newer or potential members or those thinking about jumping in?
Go heads first! There is no better way to reach your goals other than by just going for it. Snap will provide you place to not only reach goals but build relationships with others and yourself.

The Spirit of Charity

Snap Fitness Whyalla handed over a cheque for $600 to the Whyalla Pink Ladies today from the club’s recycling efforts throughout 2023.

We want to say a big thank you to our members for their co-operation in recycling cans and bottles in our recycling containers.

6,000 containers have been collected to reach this total and a massive appreciation to our cleaner Deb who diligently collects, sorts and washes the bottles/cans and to Ford and the team who carts the cans and bottles monthly to the depot.

We look forward to an even bigger total in 2024. Keep up the amazing effort Snap Whyalla

🩵 Sims Movement Fundraiser 🩵
THIS FRIDAY

Supporting local businesses and their fundraising events to support the Whyalla community
🩵 let’s get around a good cause 🩵

This year Sims Movement are putting the call out for you to register for the Harriers fun/walk held on the 26th Jan at 8am
Here’s how you can help:

🩵 Register under team name Sims Movement
🩵 SM will match the cost of your entry ($10) up to 50 entrants
🩵 Match your own donation of $10 to Astro’s Go Fund me (link in Facebook comments)
🩵 Between your entry, and all our matched donations we aim to raise at least $1000 for Astro and her amazing family.
🩵 If you can’t enter the run/walk we would love for you to make a donation of $10-20, or whatever you can spare.

Then you just need to lace up and meet us at Ada Ryan gardens on the day, tell your friends and family, and look for the Sims Movement flag for a group photo before the event.

Thanks again to the Harriers for running this local event each year. Why not come out and try a few harriers sessions before the event. They hold 2 sessions each week, and you will truly be inspired by these amazing runners and walkers.
I’m always happy to offer any advice you might have if you have burning questions about running, or don’t know where to start.

Thanks for reading this far, and we can’t wait to see you on the 26th to band together for such a great cause 🩵
